Backup Traders let any eligible trader — not just pre-selected national team members — compete in Season 1. A group of traders can registers together under one traders name, support their country, and competes on the same leaderboard as national teams. High-performing Backup Traders teams can outrank national teams within their country bracket and claim a larger share of the prize pool.

Why Backup Traders exist

The national traders roster is small by design — it spotlights the best-credentialed traders. Backup Traders exist so the competition is not closed to everyone else. Backup Traders that outperforms the national team on net realized PnL gets credit for it. The structure rewards actual performance over selection pedigree.

Self-organized

Any eligible trader can create a team. The creator becomes the team leader for administrative purposes — they manage the roster until registration closes.

Follower-amplified

Followers who attach to Backup Traders contribute mirrored volume that counts toward the team’s qualifying volume floor. A team with strong follower following has an easier path to qualification.

Prize-eligible

Backup Traders also share in the prize pool. Backup Traders that places first within its country bracket is rewarded meaningfully. Full prize table: TBA.

Team composition

Non upper limit for Backup Traders numbers. Teams below the minimum at registration close are ineligible and their members are returned to unaffiliated status for the season.
Backup Traders only belongs to one country. All traders on the team must have the same country designation. A team cannot span both Korea and Japan.
The same eligibility requirements apply as for national team traders — Aster trading history, minimum volume — except there is no minimum drawdown or win rate requirement for Backup Traders team members. See Rules for the full eligibility list.
One trader may be on at most one team per season. A trader who is on a national team cannot also register for backup trader. Once the season opens, team membership is locked.

How followers attach to Trader’s team

Any follower can attach to any traders team through the Partnership tab of the 0x1 dashboard. Attaching means the follower’s mirrored volume on trades from team members counts toward the team’s qualifying volume floor during the season.
  1. Visit the Partnership tab while the season is active.
  2. Browse the Backup Traders leaderboard and select the team you want to follow.
  3. Click “Attach to team.” This does not change your existing mirrors — it registers your future mirrored volume with the team.
  4. Start mirroring mirror traders who are on that team. Their team affiliation appears on their leaderboard profile.

Qualification path

Backup Traders qualifies for country-score contribution and prize eligibility by meeting the volume floor (see Rules). Beyond that, Backup Traders rankings within the country bracket determine prize allocation.
Yes. The leaderboard is sorted by net realized PnL regardless of team type. Backup Traders with higher aggregate PnL than the national traders ranks above them within the country bracket. However, the country-score weighting formula gives national traders a higher multiplier — so a national traders at equal PnL contributes more to the country total than Backup Traders.
Season 1 has national traders for both Korea and Japan. In future seasons, if a country does not have an active national traders, the highest-ranked Backup Traders from that country assumes the national-team weighting position.
Open team registration opens TBA. Follow official 0x1 channels for the announcement.
